is this capacitor a electrolytic capacitor or not?

i build this circuit and it dont work.
i build it with a "normal" capacitor.

and now i saw this page:
http://www.fullcustom.es/data/foro/view ... c&start=45

they use a electrolytic capacitor

is my fault that i used a "normal" capacitor?

First pic don't work, but yes ofcourse you should stick to the components in schematics. There's a big difference in normal and electrolytic caps.

I think you need to use the eletrolytic cap.

At first I used a normal ceramic cap and had some problems (the display worked tho). I then replaced the cap with a small smd cap (not electrolytic) from a junk pc motherboard and now it works just fine.
