Hey Coorz, I ended up getting two of the right ones and they didn't cancel the other order, so when they came in I was glad I ordered the other two as well, I mean these things are small. Im talking about the size of dust small, lol.

I got the same LCD. EL backlight requies 100V 400hz. I am in process building the PS for it with Supertex Driver. Like HV850. You can also test EL backlight with standard AC 110V. It is little danger though. But just for testing.

If it's a transflective display, you should still be able to see it even without the backlight. Post how you have it all wired up and we might be able to help figure out what may have went wrong. Usually, it's almost always in the wiring and/or the software configuration.

I don't think it would be the case of "too much backlight" but more a case of too much contrast (all black) or not enough (all blank). That's why if you can post exactly how you have it all connected up, including your negative voltage supply, it will make it easier to figure out....hopefully :D

well I followed the 2 schematics on here. The negative psu is setup as shown on the previous page. The LCD is connected the same way described in the t6963c wiring schematics shown at the opening of this site for t6963c information. I checked all of the connections and they all seem fine I saw a couple that I soldered badly come loose but reattached them with no problem. check the rest and they are rock solid connected.

when I first test LCD, i use ATX -12V with 10k pot. You can turn pot and all the pixels on LCD will shows up without EL Backlight ON. I am now using a NE555 with 7812. I noticed that when negative go below 7, it will not displays anything.
