It was produced by the demo GLCD code for the Swordfish Pic basic compiler

hi.
I've been looking in this post and i think i need to understand a couple of things...

1 - The diference between epson and philips are besides the color of the flexible pcb and the number of pins, right? if orange and with 10 pins, it's epson?

2 - is there any way to connect to serial port? can you post the scheem and if possible the board layout?

3 - i saw a usb scheem in here. can anyone tell me where do i connect pins 4, 5, 6, 7, 13, 17, 18, 19 and 20? or i don't even need to connect them? and how do i connect it to the usb port?

I know this might be stupid questions, but not asking would be worse... ;)

Thank you all.

serial port seems possible, but harder to program

parallel would be easyer

ive got one of these screens, and worked out how to hook it to parallel and how to program it etc

but i can not for the life of me think of something useful to do with it

display cpu temp etc? bah been done.
mount it in a mouse so i can cover it with my hand o_O

anyone got a good suggestion?

mabey hook it to a 12c508 and use it as a. . . . . thing that does . . . stuff

well, I'm turning it as a generic display. i would love a driver so it would appear as another screen (128x128) or a driver to display things, like the optimus three but i haven't found any.
I would like to make a joint venture with someone capable to make such driver, as this is intended to be included in a product I'm designing using this kind of displays.
BTW, this one is USB. The prototype is missing some components yet, including 5 buttons.

How about inserting a screen in to the keyboard? perhaps in place of the num lock, caps lock and scroll Lock LEDS

Well that's the problem. for now, i only saw a plugin for winamp, which didn't worked for me.
The idea was to display items like this one:
Image
So it would display mail, rss, music, whatever the user wanted.
It would include 5 buttons to control whatever, for example winamp if displaying music, windows media player if displaying the player, rss advancing, well... user configurable...
Further more, i was thinking in including usb ports and in a more fore after future, no cables (wifi compatible, perhaps).
It will also include cheaper displays in cheaper versions.
I'm still open to suggestions.

easier and might be something to think about!
What was your idea, then?
Perhaps we could start from there!
