I don't seem to be able to get the Winamp screen to work. Even though winamp is running the LCD will not dispaly info.

Is there a plugin for winamp I am missing? Or does this preview version not work with Winamp Version 3?

Marty

LCDInfo doesn't support winamp3 at the moment. I haven't found a good way to get the information from winamp yet.
Last week I found this component for winamp3 but haven't had time to look at it:

Winamp 2.x Plugin Manager for Winamp 3 http://members.telocity.com/~schweitn/wa3/wa2mgr

If someone knows how to retrieve this information from winamp3 you could support the development of LCDInfo by sharing your knowledge.

There is a plugin for winamp 3 that runs as a winamp 2 pluging , the api is based on the plugin manager from the link you gave, i found this information in the LCD Smartie page a person named Julian had made a pluggin to make winamp3 work with smartie , so if you talk to it maybe he can help , it's adress come on the Zip file from the pluggin i downloaded from the lcd smartie page :

http://www.rendo.dekooi.nl/~basiep/smartie/

the email and iformations are:

Copyright [-JMH-] (julian) 2002
You can distribute it free,so long you dont make any!! changes on it.

I have made a textfile support to LCDInfo that allows getting winamp3 stats using these plugins. New exes including textfile support: http://www.skippari.net/lcd/sekalaista/ ... 3_exes.zip

Extract the exe found in the zip over a 0.3.2pre12 installation. More info about 0.3.2pre12: http://www.skippari.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=331#331

First install this one:
Winamp 2.x Plugin Manager for Winamp 3 http://members.telocity.com/~schweitn/wa3/wa2mgr

Then this plugin from LCD Smartie's page:
http://www.rendo.dekooi.nl/~basiep/smartie/
http://reisemobile-rohmann.de/temp-10da ... plugin.rar
Local mirror: http://www.skippari.net/lcd/forumstuff/ ... plugin.rar

Follow the instructions found in the rar package:
Quote:
For winamp3 u need:
http://members.telocity.com/~schweitn/w ... index.html
there is a file called Winamp2 PLuginmanager for winamp3
Download and install it.
The put the two files which comes with this mp3.txt Help file into your winamp3 folder.
smartie.dll
gen_smartie.plugin.dll
Start Winamp3 or restart it if it was running while your installation.
Go to your Setting window in Winamp3 and choose "Winamp 2x Plugins".
Choose "Plugin Path" and choose the path where you put smartie.dll and gen...dll and add them.
Then go back to "General Plugins" and start the "MP3 Info - Plugin for Smartie".
After that u dont have to configure it.

This plugin writes the information to a text file to C:\mp3.txt.

LCDInfo settings I used for testing:
Quote:
Line0=
Line1=" $textfile(c:\mp3.txt,1)$"
Line2=
Line3=" $textfile(c:\mp3.txt,8)$ / $textfile(c:\mp3.txt,9)$"
Line4=
Line5=" $textfile(c:\mp3.txt,11)$ $textfile(c:\mp3.txt,12)$"
Line6=" $textfile(c:\mp3.txt,13)$"
Line7=

Thanks for bringing this plugin to my attention, samtech.

I haven't checked but maybe there is even a native winamp3 plugin that writes the info to a text file. This way the Winamp 2.x Plugin Manager for Winamp 3 wouldn't be needed.

Still I would prefer a solution that didn't require using the intermediate text file but I guess this solution will work until I have time to do that. Maybe someone will write a component for winamp3 to allow external programs interface to it. I can always wish. :)

The NT exe should also be in this file: http://www.skippari.net/lcd/sekalaista/ ... 3_exes.zip

Have you got the winamp3 support working ?

Henri,

There is a native Winamp3 text file output thing, Search for 'Info File'.

It makes a text file with the following:

Code:
The output file currently has this format:
<Winamp version>
<Artist>
<Album>
<Title>
<Genre>
<Year>
<Comment>
<Track Number>
<Length of track (seconds)>
<Position of file in playlist>
<Number of files in playlist>
<playstring (path to file)>
<UNIX timestamp of playing start>
<Component Version String>

Hope this helps.

Marty

Ok, I searched and installed Info File and it writes the info to a text file that was accessible in LCDInfo. So you can use this component too. But Info File doesn't write the time information to the file so if you wan't those you need to find something else like the plugins mentioned in the earlier posts.

These problems should be fixed when I get the winamp3 component for LCDInfo ready.

The new winamp3 plugin will be made for the next LCDInfo version. I'm not sure when the next version is ready as it depends of how much time I will have to spend on it. It could be after next weekend or then next month.
