Linux framebuffer driver for USBD480 is something that I have also been working on. The driver is working but still needs more testing and cleanup.

Just letting you know that it would be one possible way to use the display in Linux. Of course direct access from user space with libusb works fine also and for many applications can be the preferred method.

A short video of the framebuffer driver in use is posted here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2arP05jpHA

It shows the fbplasma demo running on the fb device. The video is recorded at 15 fps do to the limitations of my recording equipment so it's not exactly accurate representation of how it works. But at least it should show that for some applications the framebuffer device can provide good enough performance with the USBD480.

Here is now a little video showing Qt Embedded with Linux used with USBD480:

It's working better than I had expected. With the standard frame buffer device it should be possible to also run X on it but haven't tested yet.

The video quality is still horrible. I really need to arrange better camera, more light and experiment a little to produce some videos where you can actually see something...

Hello all

Do you have the source code for framebuffer and patching instructions (better if 2.6 but any kernel version is fine)? If this code is outdated, I can try to make it work again...

I am trying to use splash screen boot through the LCD so none of the other options (library or X) would work. The resource pointers in this forum do not include this info, or at least I have not been able to find it.

Many thanks

David

Was this ever finished? I can't find a link to it anywhere...

Maybe some instructions on how to use it?

Would be super awesome :)
