Yea im now a lcd/vfd freak..thank's to you all :) i got this lcd out of a old lappy that was given to me the other day model # again is epson eg9011d nz 3 the back light is 12v and i confirmed it's working order,now..how the heck do i controll it?If ya need a pic of it lmk and ill get it.

Laptop LCD's (640x480 and up) are normally hard to control, they require a relatively expensive controller and can't be hooked up to LPT. It'll just be another monitor.
LCD's up to 640x256 can be controlled by SED 1335 but you 'll need the datasheet to be sure.

EDIT i got confused with my sony's lcd..im unsure of this unit's size but it's out of a old IBM lappy

So would you like to control it with the graphical lcd software like LCDInfo for example ? In that case I don't think there's anything for you just now.
But I'm working on something that should make it possible to use this kind displays too.

On the following page an EG9011DNZ3 is listed. It seems that you can buy the controller and inverter there. Perhaps you can also ask for the datasheet...
