Hi,

how may I connect this LCD on a PC?

On The PCB was a Label (LM640311), but the PCB itself printed (LM64032).

I found this Datasheet for the LM64032B.

Which software does support such a display (3 clock and 4 data-pins), or do I need a seperate controller board between computer and Display?

Ok, it seems to work, but there is one Problem...

each pixel set, makes its column brighter->if all pixels are set it looks like none pixel is set...

its only a "vertical Problem"

can someone help me, please??

Edit: Ok, there are the 10 connectors as described in the datasheet, one seperate pair (red/green) for the backlight (I think) and then, there is one green wire left, which is connected with a "pad 4" on the LCD and an IC on the Mainboard

Btw, Which laptop is the display from? I've one just like it from an old Tandy 1400.

Hmm... I didn´t find any chip named SED... or S1D...
The CGA-Chip is named tact82303pb.
It´s a "Highscreen B310+", but I dont know, who manufactured it.
Bondwell, maybe?

Someone a hint for the coumn-problem?

Can you take a few hi-rez pictures of the back? This will lets us know exactly what we're dealing with.

How are you driving this display now? And what software are you using to drive it?
As Michael mentioned, this display can be driven with the SED1335 controller and used with LCDinfo.
That problem that you have could be caused by a number of things.

1. Check that all your grounds are attached together (for example, the LCD grounds, power supply ground and LPT ground)
2. Make sure your cable is not too long (less than 2 meters)
3. Tell us how you have it wired. It'll help us to help you if we know how you have it wired.

And Nortoncommander, if I remeber correctly, was an old dos-based version of something like a Nortons utilities (antivirus, disk backup/cleanup....)

This is the (original) computer (B310) and it works perfectly (except this display-problem).

I think, I´ll make (and load up) some pics from the back of the LCD-panel, this day.

(and yes, the Nortoncommander is a DOS based file transfer/copy/edit/viewing/renaming/... program.
on this computer runs DOS 6.0 by Digital Research )

and I have replaced the first pic - now it shows the effect better.
there are lines drawn each second column, the first is only one pixel, and the following 1 pixel more...

and the same once again from bottom to top but 1 pixel shifted right

Have a look at each of the flexy cables holding the driver chips, ensure the bond between the glass and the cable is firm and check for corrosion around each of the glass contact pads. Corrosion or poor contacts could be the cause of the defects.

Did you resolder that ribbon cable on the backside? It looks kind of nasty (maybe just old). Follow that cable back to the computer and see what controller chip it's using. Are you interested in fixing this setup as a whole or just reusing the screen for other things? There might be suitable replacements for this screen, if it ends up being a screen problem (I know I have one or two with this resolution, but not sure of the physical size differences).

Ok, the ribbon cable is original (and yes, it´s about 10 till 15 years old). There are some instabilities on the display if I move it (but i can move it around and around, the "vertical problem" laughs at me ).

I discrimped an old serial port connector (´cause its 2x5 pin connector) and recrimped it on another old IDE ribbon cable. I will replace the original ribbon by this one and then I will check the LCD drive supply voltage (pin4 vs pin5)

Hmm, ok, I will open the computer again follow the way of the display-wires.

Why do I try to ... reactivate this computer? It was the first one, I bought!
What will I do with it, now? good question...
Maybe, I´ll try to use it as a display controller board (for it´s own display)
Data transferred by serial and/or parallel U(S)ART and all graphics and effects could be calculated by the laptops processor

But as far as the display does not work correctly...
