I have a Nokia 3310 lcd screen.
I saw this mod online and want to do it as well.
I am not sure where to begin.
Can someone help me?

sure, there is a schematic somewhere around here, or I may post here the one I used on one of mine, I just need to find it, or else I will have to go check and draw it again.

thanks, but I am truly a noob. I have no experience in reading schematics nor do I understand them. I would need to know the required hardware, step by step wiring, programming/configuring to get the screen up and running.

Here you can find a schematic: LINK

This is the one i used on mine: LINK

on mine the pins are numbered the same way the first link C1 and C2 are two capacitors the values are on the image, and these have polarity on the capacitor the minus is marked with a stripe.
the D1 is a diode it has a black line on one of the side this indicates the cathode, in the schematic it is indicated by the line where the arrow is pointing.

I hope this was clear enough for you to work on it, any more questions, just ask

it may seem dumb but, is the wiring as easy and simple as the diagram...meaning...if i wire the lcd to the parallel port like shown...then thats all i would need to do to hook it up to a pc? what program would i need to display a picture or text?
